Gee I just love being at home, working, keeping the house up to date, well mostly, getting outside when I can, going for long walks with my girlfriend (getting some weight off) and not being under the rule of a boss, very happy with my life at the moment, but must admit more money would come in handy, that will come as I build up my business which is really just getting started. Adrian and I have started a business where we monitor other business with their workplace safety, this makes it very easy for them, we all know that this is one of the last things we make time for, our system is very well planned, we do most of the work for them and bring down their percentage of risk, I didn’t realise that it is now mandatory for business to be proactive in the workplace safety until I found out about this new business. It’s been awhile

Yes I know it’s been ages since I did anything here, life just gets in the way, and I suppose it’s all about priorities too…….had a fantastic Christmas this year, (I know it’s a bit late to be talking about christmas now, especially that easter has passed also) spent chrissy day with my sister and her seven kids, yes, you read it right, with my husband and our three kids, and a few partners to the kids and some of their friends it was a busy fun day. Won’t be long before we are doing it all over again, this year we want to go to Bali, we haven’t been for about 5 years, the friends we go with want to leave christmas eve, but I really would like to leave after having christmas day with the gang, we will just have to see what happens. Who knows we may not have the money anyway.

Giving up the dreaded ciggies

Well my hubby and I have been trying to give up the cigarettes for a long long time, it is just a ridiculous and stupid habit to have, so expensive and so unhealthy, we have tried many times and I think because we are in our mid fifties, we need to get healthy again, so my next motivation is to stop smoking, eat healthy, and get some good regular exercise, so I’m joining Contours again. I have read a book “Stop Smoking the Easy Way” by Allan Carr, I read this some time ago and it really changed my way of thinking, I stopped smoking but started again because it was too easy to have “just one” when my husband didn’t stop with me. I haven’t read it again, but intend to, it really is a very good book, Allan Carr gives a completely different approach on how to quit the horrible little things, the good thing is that he is (was) and ex smoker, so he completely understands how the addicted smoker reacts and thinks. I’m trying to convince my husband to read it, he will one day I’m sure, but I highly recommend reading it for anyone who would like to go down that path and to get rid of those nasty ciggies.

Well after being a little nervous about telling the boss and his wife I was leaving at the end of the year, I am now very relieved, it didn’t hurt that much, isn’t it funny how we think because we are leaving a job that we are going to get a hard time from the employer/s. I think that they might have already suspected that I was going to resign, they didn’t seem too shocked about it, just took it in their stride, we become conditioned to thinking that our workplace can’t do without us, but in reality, there is always someone else who can take over your job, none of us are indispensable.

I have to say my outlook has brightened up for the future, I am ready to take on something new and become my own boss, whatever I decide to go with, I am now going to determine the hours I work and how many. Really looking forward to next year with anticipation. It’s a good feeling to have.

Sitting at work, being very bored and unmotivated

It’s Monday again, and as usual sitting at my desk being very unmotivated, not that I have a lot to do, but what I did do today is drafted my ‘letter of resignation’, I am so over working here, this is my eighth year in this job, I only intended to stay about three or four years, just until we could save another deposit for a house, we were renting for about 14 years and I desparately wanted my own home again after losing ours (which we built) from that ‘recession’ that we had to have (good old Paul Keating), it wasn’t just the recession though, it was a lot of other things that we didn’t put into place financially before it all happened.

Anyway, that’s history, we bought another home just over three years ago, and still have a way to go before it is paid off, very nervous about leaving this job because it is quite secure, as far as security in jobs goes these days. However, I really am over working fulltime after 40 years of it and bringing up three children.

So now I venture into something new, maybe I will really concentrate on building up a business from home being a virtual secretary/assistant, this industry is really quite popular now for mums who don’t want to put their children in childcare, I now wonder why I didn’t pursue this when my kids were small, instead of not being with them, working outside the home. Oh well, can’t change the past, can only change the future.

The world of blogging, something completely new to me.

I’m quite sure this is not the first time some one has posted this as their first heading on a blog, particulary someone of my age (the baby boomer age). My blogs will at first be much about my family, life in general, not all of you will be interested but some of you might be. I have always wanted to do something like this, there are so many thousands of people out there in the world of blogging, I thought surely I could join and talk about something that was of interest to some of you.
